psychological game data analytics for prevention and improvement
Modern games try to keep players engaged and in the game as long as they can. Although this is very common and nothing bad in particular, some players have a high risk to become addicted. In fact, the World Health Organization (WHO) already defined an Internet Gaming Disorder (IGD) as a new disease in the 11th version of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD).
Many professional players or streamers are often playing 10 hours or more per day. During the COVID-19 pandemic Dr. Ingo von Eitzen, who has been a passionate gamer himself and around in German esports for years, asked himself: Is it possible to use game data for prevention as well as improvement?
Combining years of web development expertise, psychological knowledge and ingame leading experience, he managed to develop a first prototype which was able to receive game data of Riot Games' first person shooter Valorant and analyze it with psychological measurements.
After receiving a lot of positive and valuable feedback, the prototype was closed down for now and a new roadmap was outlined. If you are interested in this project and want to stay up to date, please join the waiting list.
